Harry and Sheila recognised by Lord Mayor for Safeside volunteering efforts

Earlier this year, Prevention Advocate Volunteers Harry and Sheila Dennick were recognised by West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) for reaching the milestone of leading 1,000 tours each at our Safeside centre.

And now the couple have been presented with the City of Birmingham’s Lord Mayor’s Award, by Councillor Maureen Cornish.

The accolade is for ‘outstanding achievement or exceptional service to the city and people of Birmingham’.

The couple, who have delivered life-saving information at Safeside for 15 years, have shared more than 40,000 safety messages with children who have visited the venue.

In addition to their volunteering work, the duo have also been involved in numerous fundraising campaigns at WMFS, raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity and the burns unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Congratulations to Harry and Sheila from all of us here at WMFS!
