At 6pm on Wednesday 25 May we were alerted to an incident in Station Street East, Edgwick, Coventry.
Two fire engines and a Brigade Response Vehicle responded, crewed by 12 firefighters from Coventry and Foleshill fire stations.
The first crew arrived within two minutes of being mobilised, to find a 59-year-old man with suspected stab wounds outside a house.
Firefighters gave him first aid before he was treated by the ambulance service and taken to hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
There was a fire on the ground floor of the property, from which we led another man to safety.
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately. It was confirmed to be out by 6.40pm, extinguished with a hose reel by firefighters in breathing apparatus.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson.
West Midlands Police say the two men were known to each other and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
