Incidents
Canberra Gardens, Birmingham, UK
Just after 11am on Friday 8 March we responded to a road traffic collision on Canberra Gardens, Shard End, Birmingham. Two fire engines and a brigade response vehicle initially responded, crewed by firefighters from Wednesbury, Aston and Sheldon fire stations.
The incident involved one car which had crashed into a semi-detached house.
Crews quickly assessed the situation and began removing debris and searching for any trapped persons. A technical rescue unit from Bickenhill fire station also attended and formulated a plan to stabilise and remove the car from the building using specialist equipment.
Fortunately, the resident of the house was not home at the time of the crash, and nobody was trapped or injured. The driver of the vehicle had absconded from the scene prior to our arrival.
We had support from Police and Ambulance colleagues throughout the incident.
