Alcester Road, Moseley, Birmingham, UK

Shortly after 12.20 am on Thursday (3 August), we responded to a fire on Alcester Road, in the Moseley area of Birmingham.

Thirty-two firefighters from several Birmingham fire stations attended, with seven fire engines and a hydraulic aerial platform in use.

This was a fire in a three-storey mid-terraced house. The fire also affected the adjoining property.

Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire, which was confirmed to be out at 4.30am. There were no reported casualties.

During a revisit this morning, crews assisted with covering the roof, with support provided by a hydraulic aerial platform.

Two fire engines and a specialist Technical Rescue vehicle are currently at the scene. Alcester Road has been reduced to one lane in both directions and West Midlands Police are assisting with traffic management as crews continue work to secure the property.

Crews sheeted the roof and conducted another check for hotspots at 1.30pm. Non were found and the property was handed back to the landlord. Alcester Road re-opened shortly after.
