Allard Way, Binley, Coventry, UK

At 10.52pm on Wednesday 13 July we responded to scrubland on fire off Allard Way, Binley.

Three fire engines and 15 firefighters attended, from Binley, Foleshill and Canley fire stations. The first crew arrived within three minutes of being mobilised.

They found some 400 square metres of land on fire.

Using a combination of water jets, light portable pumps and beaters they had surrounded and extinguished the fire by midnight, but remained at the scene for a further hour to damp it down.

They managed to stop the fire spreading to a nearby railway line.
