We were called at 1.53pm to reports of a fire on Giles Close, Stechford in Birmingham.

A total of six fire crews are in attendance at the incident, which involves a fire in a kitchen that has spread through extraction into the roof of the property.

Crews, with 6 wearing breathing apparatus, are using two hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

The fire within the roof has been contained and neighbouring properties on both sides are currently unaffected, but are being monitored closely.

All persons are accounted for at this incident and there are currently no reported casualties.

Crews have made good progress at this incident.

Crews are now cutting away and damping down hot spots in the roof, loft space and wall voids.

Three people left the property prior to our arrival, but there were no casualties or injuries.

The incident has been scaled-down, with only 3 crews still needed in attendance.

Three further re-visits were made to the property overnight to check for hotspots with thermal imaging cameras.

None were found and this incident has been closed.
