Mansel Road, Birmingham, UK

Shortly after 5.15am on Thursday (28 September), we responded to an incident on Mansel Road in the Small Heath area of Birmingham.

Initially, seven fire engines and three 4×4 brigade response vehicles responded, crewed by around 35 firefighters from Birmingham fire stations.

This was a house fire in a two-storey terraced house where cannabis was being grown inside. The fire affected the entire loft space, also causing minor damage to the loft of the adjoining property.

Ten firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used five hose reels to extinguish the fire, which was confirmed to be out shortly before 8.20am.

Crews were supported by a drone, which was used to identify hotspots across the site. West Midlands Police were also in attendance.

There are no casualties as a result of this fire.

We left the scene at 10.56am.
