Houses evacuated as a precaution after Wordsley garage fire

Shortly after 9pm on Tuesday 19 March, were responded to Audham Road, Wordsley.

Seven fire crews responded from Stourbridge, Dudley, Brierley Hill, Haden Cross, West Bromwich and Tipton stations. The first was at the scene within five minutes of being mobilised.

This was a fire in single-storey car repair garage. Residents living nearby were evacuated as a precaution, due to the significant smoke plume.

The fire was extinguished by crews wearing breathing apparatus. The building was significantly affected by fire and smoke.

Audham Road was closed whilst we worked at the scene but re-opened a short time later.

Crews returned to the incident this morning to extinguish discovered hotspots. We will continue to revisit the premises throughout the day.
