Garrison Street, Birmingham, UK

Shortly before 9.55am on Friday (11 August), we responded to Garrison Street in the Bordesley area of Birmingham, where a fox had been found trapped in metal flooring.

Three fire engines attended, one from Highgate and two from Bickenhill, one of our technical rescue stations. The first arrived within five minutes of being mobilised.

Using specialist cutting equipment, we successfully freed the animal's head from a hole in the metal.

The RSPCA took the animal from the scene for further treatment. It is understood to be safe and well.

We left the incident at 12.35pm.
