Four crews were mobilised to a severe house fire in Aston, Birmingham where a man has been rescued.

Crews from Aston, Perry Barr, and Ladywood were mobilised to reports of a fire on Witton Road, Aston at at 16:17 today. The incident involves a severe fire on the ground floor of the three-storey property. Crews using breathing apparatus tackled the blaze and a male was rescued from the first floor using a ladder. The fire was reported extinguished by our crews at around 16:51. A total of eight breathing apparatus were in use with two hose reel jets and a covering jet. A full search of the premises was carried out and all persons are accounted for. West Midlands Ambulance paramedics conveyed 2 males to hospital. The cause has yet to be confirmed.
The incident involved an electric bike that was on fire on the ground floor of the property. One man was rescued from a first-floor window by firefighters using a ladder, with two further men self-extricating from a first-floor window prior to our firefighters' arrival. Two men were conveyed to hospital for further assessment but suffered no burns or smoke inhalation The fire had spread from the ground floor to a first-floor bedroom. 5% of the ground floor and 5% of the first floor were affected by fire and heat damage and 100% of the property suffered smoke damage. Adjacent properties were thoroughly checked for any smoke or fire spread. The cause of the incident was believed to be an electric bike that was left charging for an extended period, unattended.
