Shortly before 5.15am on Thursday (7 September), we responded to two fires on Sandy Hollow, in the Compton area of Wolverhampton.

Three fire engines and a 4×4 brigade response vehicle responded, crewed by 16 firefighters from Wolverhampton, Fallings Park and Bilston stations.

This incident involved two separate fires. One was in a single-storey laundry room and the other in a first floor flat of a three-storey block.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in the flat. Firefighters also extinguished the fire in the laundry area and ventilated the room.

Everyone was accounted for and there were no casualties. Colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Police were in attendance.

One crew remains at the scene. A Fire Investigation Officer is scheduled to attend the property later this hour.
