128A Birmingham Rd, Allesley, Coventry CV5 9GX, UK
At 6.45am today (Sunday 11 February), we received a call regarding a fire within the former Allesley Hotel, Birmingham Road, Coventry.
Our crews arrived to find a significant fire involving multiple parts of the derelict 3-storey hotel. Crews from Canley, Coventry, Foleshill, and Binley fire stations were first on scene. There are currently 10 fire engines and multiple support vehicles in attendance as crews wearing breathing apparatus work to tackle the blaze.
Birmingham Road is currently closed in both directions. We advise local residents to keep windows and doors closed.
The fires at this property have now been extinguished.
We were grateful to be assisted on scene by the Police and partner services engineers as our crews tackled the blaze.
Alongside our high-powered water jets and crews wearing breathing apparatus, our specialist drone was on scene to support our crews in making safe and assertive decisions.
Crews will remain on scene for a number of hours, dampening down and monitoring the premises.
Doors and windows of local properties can now be reopened; however, intermittent closures of Birmingham Road will remain in place to allow our crews to continue their work safely.
Our fire investigation team is on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
All roads are now fully open.
Although we have scaled back our resources, crews will remain on scene for several hours.
