Shortly before 4.55pm on Wednesday (5 Oct) we responded to a fire in flower shop on Bowyer Road, Alum Rock, Birmingham.

Four fire engines attended, crewed by firefighters from Ward End, Highgate and Hay Mills fire stations.

The first arrived three minutes after being mobilised, to find a severe fire in the ground-floor businesses.

Our crews wore breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally.

They also searched and checked neighbouring businesses and flats above to ensure that no-one was inside. There were no casualties.
