Fire in flats' communal area - Canley

Just before 2.45pm on Sunday 24 July we responded to a fire in Alan Marcell Close, Canley, Coventry.

Three fire engines and 15 firefighters attended.

This was a fire in an electrical cupboard, on the ground floor of a three-storey building containing six flats.

Our crews led five people to safety. They wore breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, using a hose reel jet. It was confirmed to be out shortly after 3pm.

We had left the scene by 6.30pm, and understand that residents were being found alternative accommodation by a housing association.
