Cranes Park Road, Birmingham, UK

We were called at 03:03 on 11 May to a fire on Cranes Park Road, Sheldon, Birmingham.

The incident was a fire in a 3 storey block which contained residential flats over commercial units. At the height of the incident, a total of 28 firefighters and a hydraulic platform, attended from stations around Birmingham.

Four flats were affected by the fire, with water damage also affecting two commercial units beneath them.

A total of 4 main jets, 2 hose reel jets and 10 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze, also using the hydraulic platform from Highgate.

Three occupiers from two flats exited the property prior to arrival and one male was led to safety by fire service personnel suffering smoke inhalation.

Fire investigations continued through the morning and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

A hydraulic platform and crew will remain at the scene for several hours doing salvage duties.
