Just after 10:30pm on Thursday 28 July we were called to an incident at a recycling site on Cornets End Lane, Meriden.

A total of 12 fire engines attended, crewed by firefighters from stations across the Solihull and Coventry area.

This incident involved a large pile of wood chippings well alight, measuring approximately 15m x 15m.

Crews initially used one main jet and two hose reel jets to tackle the fire. An open water source was quickly located and a water relay was set up.

Steady progress was made in fighting the fire, and within a couple of hours we had began scaling the incident down.

On site machinery was utilised to break up debris from the fire.

Several crews remained at the incident throughout Thursday night in order to monitor any hot spots.

There were no reports of any casualties.
