At 4.53am on Thursday (8 Sept) we responded to a fire at a metal recycling site in Aston Church Road, Nechells.

Three fire engines and a 4×4 Brigade Response Vehicle attended, crewed by 16 firefighters from Ward End, Erdington and Aston fire stations. The first arrived three minutes after being mobilised.

The fire, which is believed to have started accidentally, involved approximately 400 tonnes of metal.

It was quickly extinguished, using water pumped from a nearby canal, and our crews left the scene at 6.40am.
