Fire at market retail store, Edward Road, Balsall Heath

Our Fire Control team were alerted to reports of a fire at a food market store on Edward Road, Balsall Heath at 12:40 today (6 Jul 22).

A total of six crews have been mobilised to the incident which involved a fire in a lean-to adjoining a two-storey property.

The fire has been extinguished and crews are damping down and stripping the property as needed to deal with any hot spots.

A full search of the property and adjoining properties has taken place and all persons are accounted for. No injuries have been reported.

The incident will shortly be scaled down to 4 fire crews while salvage work takes place.
