At approximately 2.15am on Monday 3 April, we responded to a house fire on Croxdene Avenue, Bloxwich.

Three fire engines, crewed by 15 firefighters from Walsall, Bloxwich and Willenhall fire stations attended a severe fire in a two-storey house. The first arrived within five minutes of being mobilised.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and extinguished the fire using hose reels.

We are saddened to confirm that, despite the best efforts of fire and ambulance crews at the scene, two people rescued from the building were confirmed to have died at the scene. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident.

Our Fire Investigation Team are working to establish the cause of the fire.

Fire investigation officers have been at the property throughout the day, supported by three firefighters. Investigations into the cause continue. 


Our fire investigators have completed their work at the scene of a house fire in Croxdene Avenue, Bloxwich, in which two people died.

They believe the cause was smoking-related.

A report will now be prepared for HM Coroner. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic incident.
