The Barge & Barrel, Factory Road, Tipton, UK
At around 10.00am today (3 November), a total of five fire crews and supporting personnel are attending a fire in a derelict property on Factory Road, Tipton. Our hydraulic aerial platform from Oldbury is also in attendance.
The incident involves a fire at the former Barge and Barrel public house, now disused. The fire has affected approximately 25% of the building and roof, including an amount of fly-tipped rubbish in and around the property.
Crews are making good progress.
Due to water being taken from the nearby canal, the canal towpath adjacent to the property is currently closed to the public. We’d ask those nearby to avoid the area.
Further updates will be issued when they are available.
Crews are making good progress at this incident.
We are expecting to reduce the number of resources in attendance to 3 fire engines and one hydraulic aerial platform in the near future.
The road was closed, but has since re-opened.
Representatives from West Midlands Police, Canal and River Trust, National Grid and Cadent have also been in attendance at this incident.
The fire was confirmed to be out shortly after 2pm, although several hotspots in the roof space still needed to be dealt with.
Our final crews left the scene at around 3pm, but we will be revisiting the site to check for any reignition.
