Fire in local chip shop - Wood End Road, Wednesfield

A fire has broken out at a chip shop on Wood End Road, and crews have stopped the fire from spreading to the flat above.

Wood End Road, Wolverhampton, UK

Crews from Fallings Park and Bloxwich are attending a fire at a chip shop on Wood End Road, Wednesfield, Wolverhampton.

We were initially called at 10:43 this morning and crews arrived to a fully developed fire in the chip shop.

The fire, which is now under control, is believed to have originated in a fat fryer. It also spread to ducting.

A residential flat above the chip shop has been searched, with no sign of fire spread.

Crews continue to work to extinguish the fire and will then begin damping down and salvage duties.

The fire was fully extinguished using two hose reel jets with four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

A full check, including with a thermal image camera, took place around the site, adjoining properties and the flat above. Crews also stripped back cladding and confirmed through all checks that there was no fire spread.

The flat above was ventilated and the incident was left with the owner of the shop.
