Updates for this incident

The burst 30-inch main has now been isolated and water levels are starting to drop.

However, we understand that water supply to around 5,000 people in the area could be affected.

We continue to work closely with police and Severn Trent Water to manage the situation.

Severn Trent Water have pumping equipment and road cleaning vehicles at the site.

National Grid are working to isolate electricity to some premises where the incoming supply has been submerged.

We’ve reduced the number of resources we have at this incident to a single crew.

The water is being pumped away, with much of the surface water from Lichfield Road and Aston Hall road now cleared.

Water supplies to local properties has been restored.

It’s expected the roads will remain closed for approximately two hours while recover works take place.

Our crews have now left the scene in the care of Severn Trent, West Midlands Police and other partners for the recovery phase of the work.
