Updates for this incident

info

Sutton New Road and York Road in #Erdington are expected to remain closed until around 1pm, for safety, while firefighting continues.

info

We now have a hydraulic aerial platform at the scene, to assist with cutting away and gaining better firefighting access to the roof space of the detached building.

However, we are now looking to reduce the number of other resources we have at the scene.

info

Our crews have now left the scene, but will be making revisits to ensure there are no hotspots with the potential to reignite.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

We understand that re-securing of the site is being arranged by the agents who are marketing it.
