RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested further to your freedom of information request.
Please find below a summary of our findings.
Request
Do you have any former Fire Service Control Staff that have transferred out of Control in the last 20 years into Grey Book roles higher than Watch Manager?
Reply
We only hold data from 2007 onwards and there have been no Fire Control staff that have transferred out of Control to grey book roles higher than watch manager. We have had several people who have transferred out of Control over the last few years but not directly into any role above that of a Watch Manager. However, people have then been subsequently seconded temporarily or permanently promoted into other higher roles following exposure to other departments.
Request
Do they have or maintain an operational competency either with Control or for operational incidents?
Reply
Anybody who transfers out of Control up to the role of Watch Manager is required to maintain competency. Anybody who is a Station Manager or above is not currently required to maintain competency either within Fire Control or for Operational Incidents (as none are Ops competent).
Request
Are they paid in accordance with the NJC agreed Firefighter Roles pay scale or Control Specific Roles pay scale?
Reply
Anybody who has transferred out of Control (whether seconded or permanent) will be paid in accordance with the NJC agreed Firefighter Roles as opposed to Control Specific Roles.
