I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested further to your freedom of information request. 

Please find below a summary of our findings. 


Fleet Management 

1. What is the size of your fleet?  

2. What is the Fleet Manager’s name? 

3. Does your authority operate a fleet management software product? If so, which provider? 

4. What is the annual spend for this contract? 

5. When does the contract expire?  

6. If you go through the tender process, which framework or platform do you use?  

7. Is your fleet maintenance conducted in-house? Externally outsourced? Or both? 



2. With regards for the contact details of responsible persons, WMFS operates a single point of contact policy and callers are directed via HQ general contacts on 0330 058 9000. The call will be directed to the person with responsibility for the specific service. There is a direct email address for suppliers making sales enquires email: procurement.enquires@wmfs.net. Furthermore, guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office is as follows: 

  • The presumption is in favour of protecting privacy, so the release of personal information will only be fair if there is a genuine reason to disclose. This involves a three-stage test. A public authority will generally have to satisfy itself that: 
  • There is a legitimate interest in disclosure; 
  • The legitimate interest can only be met, or fully met, by the disclosure of information which identifies individuals (i.e. the disclosure is necessary to that purpose); and, the disclosure would not involve unwarranted detriment to the individual’s privacy or other rights and legitimate interests.

1. Is your authority planning on moving towards an alternative fuel fleet? Or have you already implemented an alternative fuel fleet and charging provider?  

2. If you already have charging ports installed for fleet vehicles, how many are installed and what charging network (i.e., ChargePoint, PodPoint, Engie) do you use?  

3. What is planned next?  


1.Our Vehicle Replacement Programme details the Authorities position on a Greener Fleet strategy, and we will always consider what alternate fuel options are available when considering Fleet replacements.  

2. We currently have 26 electric vehicle chargers at various locations that have been installed by MER. 

3. Site surveys to install electric vehicle chargers at a further 10 fire service locations has been carried
