RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested further to your freedom of information request.
Please find below a summary of our findings.
Request
If possible, please can you share information on how many fires have been recorded where one of the below items were involved:
- A heated hair or beauty tool (for example, hair straighteners, curling wands, hair dryers)
- candles
If possible, please can you provide the above data split by month, and for the calendar years 2021, 2022, and 2023 to date. If this request exceeds the allocated time limit for requests, please prioritise data for 2022 as a whole, followed by 2023 to date.
Response
Please find attached the requested information.
Please note the following:
The source of ignition ‘Candles’ and ‘Hairdryer’ have been used to identify the cause of fire. Unfortunately, we don’t have any other heated hair or beauty products listed within our source of ignition types and due to the number of ways these could be recorded within the incident log, I am not able to do a search of key words.
