RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information requested on 20th September 2022.
Please find below a summary of our findings.

I request to be supplied with data on the causes of fires reported to West Midlands Fire Service, including but not limited to those started by disposable BBQs, cigarette litter, broken/discarded glass bottles and sky lanterns. I request that this data is broken down at least by month, for the last 24 months.

Attached is the count of incidents by month, year, and source of ignition for Primary fires (fires at primary fire locations or those at secondary fire locations where more than 5 pumping appliances attended or there was a casualty) attended by WMFS crews in the West Midlands. We don’t record the cause of fire for secondary fires.
