RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested further to your freedom of information request.
Please find below a summary of our findings.
Does the other brigade such as Hereford and Worcester contact you by via or radio
Other Brigades will initially try to contact us by telephone, they have a couple of designated emergency numbers to reach us on. If they were to receive no response from either of these numbers, there are also a couple of hailing airwave radio channels that they can use but this would be a last resort.
Does the other brigade advise how many pumps they want and then you consider whether its a yes or no?
Yes. They will request the number of pumps they require and we will respond dependent on the activity within our own Brigade.
Do you charge for sending the pumps over the border?
Yes, we do charge, we have specific charging agreements with our bordering FRS’s, for any that we do not have an agreement with there is a Nationally agreed charging policy.
If pumps are sent is a station / group / area commander sent too?
An officer is not normally sent with the pumps unless it is an unusually large or complex incident and a number of pumps or special appliances have been requested, an officer will then be sent. Additionally we may send an officer for welfare of West Midlands Fire Service crews.
Details in 2021 of how many pumps have been sent over the border, please detail in this format:
STATION NAME – PRL/BRV – MONTH/YEAR – SENT TO ASSIST WHAT BRIGADE
Please find attached the requested data.
The data shows only those that attended rather than everything that was mobilised.
Standby moves are included as they would constitute providing assistance and have been marked accordingly.
