I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested further to your freedom of information request. 

Please find below a summary of our findings.

Suppliers who applied for inclusion on each framework/contract and were successful & not successful at the PQQ & ITT stages 


This was a call off from a framework agreement via a Mini competition. ESPO’s framework 345, all the suppliers on the framework were invited to the mini competition.  



Actual spend on this contract/framework (and any sub lots), from the start of the contract to the current date 

Spend to date: £28k 

Start date & duration of framework 

The contract start date is the 15th July 2020 for a duration of 2 years with the option to extend for a further period of 2 years 

Is there an extension clause in the framework(s)/contract(s) and, if so, the duration of the extension? 

2-year contract with the option to extend for a further period of 2 years 

Has a decision been made yet on whether the framework(s)/contract(s) are being either extended or renewed? 

No, a decision will be made closer to the end of the initial 2 years of contract.  

Who is the senior officer (outside of procurement) responsible for this contract? 

With regards for the contact details, WMFS operates a single point of contact policy and callers are directed to HQ general contacts on 0330 058 9000. Furthermore, guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office is as follows: 

  • The presumption is in favour of protecting privacy, so the release of personal information will only be fair if there is a genuine reason to disclose. This involves a three-stage test. A public authority will generally have to satisfy itself that:
  • There is a legitimate interest indisclosure;
  • The legitimate interest can only be met, or fully met, by the disclosure of information which identifies individuals (i.e.the disclosure is necessary to that purpose);and, the disclosure would not involve unwarranted detriment to the individual’s privacy or other rights and legitimate interests. 
  • You can find out more about FOI exemptions from the Information Commissioner’s Office. This will explain which one or more of the FOI exemptions applies, and tell you how to appeal if you disagree with our decision

Would you consider appointing a third party contractor to service and repair the existing gym equipment beyond the existing OEM warranty period? 


The current contract includes the maintenance of the gym equipment.
