West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information requested on 4th December 2020

Please find below a summary of our findings.


  1. The number of residential buildings in your authority area where a ‘waking watch’ (fire wardens) is in place to ensure they meet fire safety standards.


12 Residential addresses have a waking watch system to raise the alarm and / or manage an evacuation.


  1. The number of these where the reason for the waking watch relates to concerns about the cladding/external façade of the building.


10 Residential addresses.


  1. The length of time these waking watches have been in place.


Various lengths of time but none since before June 2017
