West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information requested on 9th November 2020
Please find below a summary of our findings.
Request.
Can you please provide me with any information that you have relating to fires that have occurred due to fireworks landing on a roof of a building. Is it possible to have the figures covering the last 3 years please.
Reply
Between April 2017 and March 2020, there have been 4 incidents where a fire started on the roof of a building and the cause was logged as fireworks.
These occurred in October 2017 (Semi-detached house), July 2028 (Private detached shed / garden shed), November 2018 (Private detached shed / garden shed), and October 2019 (Private detached shed / garden shed).
Please be aware of the following:
- The data only includes where fireworks was the source of ignition and the place the fire started was ‘roof’. Therefore some incidents may be missed if the Officer selected any different terms
- All buildings have been included
