IN REMEMBRANCE

We are extremely saddened by the death of our colleague, Liliana, who lost her battle with cancer on 17 September.

Liliana joined West Midlands Fire Service in 2013 as Senior Software Developer within our Digital and Data Team. She worked on a range of projects, to develop many of the systems we use across the service.

Our thoughts are with Liliana’s family, friends, and colleagues at this extremely difficult time.

She leaves a husband and two sons. Liliana met Tom at the University of Warwick, where she completed her PhD in Theoretical Physics. Their son, Adrian, is following in Liliana’s footsteps and is currently studying Physics at the same university.

Liliana’s passing comes just a month after the couple’s eldest son, Marcus, married Maddie. Both are doctors in the NHS.

Tom, a Senior Managing Consultant at IBM, described his wife as ‘beloved, beautiful, smart, indomitable and caring’.

He added: “There are no words that can convey the gap that she will leave in all our lives. We are all devastated… Lili lives on in our sons, Marcus and Adrian – their strength of character is truly astounding… Lili’s faith carried her through many difficult times, especially near the end, and I know that she will be watching over us all from above. Te iubesc – I love you, Lili. I was so lucky to have you in my life.”

Liliana’s funeral will take place on 12 October in Kenilworth.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague Liliana. She had been a wonderful lady and a beloved Mom. Her sons were an asset to her and I'm sure she's made them proud and for bringing them up for what they are today. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Miss you Liliana!!!

My sincere condolences go out to Liliana's family at this difficult time. Although I didn't work closely with Liliana, I regularly chatted with her at work about our lives and our families. Liliana's pride and love for her family absolutely shone through and she will be greatly missed. RIP

Liliana,

Having read Toms tribute it is evident that the description he gives of you is that which we all came to respect and love in the workplace. Ever the professional and very approachable. My thoughts are with you, a life taken to soon, and your family, friends and colleagues. Thankyou for what you have done for us.

Liliana was a pleasure to work with and great at her job but it was her dedication to her family especially her children that I will miss about her most. An inspiration to me and something I understood more when I had my own children. Rest in peace Liliana you are missed.
