The Home Office has announced a new role for Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC), which will now also cover fire and rescue services.
HMIC will become the single inspectorate for policing and fire. It will be known as Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has, on behalf of the sector, played a key role in the development.
Via the National Fire Chiefs’ Council (NFCC), WMFS has been working to shape and influence how the Inspectorate will support fire and rescue services to further progress their transformational reform.
