We were called at 02:42 to reports of a fire in a pizza shop located on Bristol Road, Selly Oak, near the Selly Oak triangle. Our first crew arrived in under 5 minutes.

The incident involved a fire on the ground floor shop, also affecting the first floor flat of the three-storey terraced property.

Crews from Bournbrook, Kings Norton, Woodgate Valley, Northfield and Ladywood attended the incident.

The incident was brought under control by the 25 attending firefighters with 6 wearing breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets and 1 covering jet used. A hydraulic platform was also used to monitor the property from above.

Three occupiers exited the property prior to our arrival and there were no reported injuries. A cat was also removed from one of the flats and returned to its owner.

The cause of the incident is not yet known.
