RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST

West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information requested on 21st June 2019

Please find below a summary of our findings.

This Information is exempt under section 43(2) of the freedom of information Act 2000 information. Its disclosure under this Act would, or would be likely to, prejudice the commercial interests of any person (including the public authority holding it).

However the overall value of contract is already be in the public domain.

4 – What is the lifespan of the foam?

Angus have stated the foam has a 10 year shelf life

5 – When does the majority or all of the foam reach its end of life and will have to be disposed of? What rough date would this be?

We have currently have a high turnover in our stock so only requires disposal on a very rare occasion

6 – How much does it cost to dispose of the foam per litre?

We dispose of foam through a company called Veolia but we haven’t done this recently so no price is available

7 – How much foam stock have you got in litres in your brigade

Reply

Each appliance has a 100 Litre foam tank and we have 41 appliances equating to 4100 litres on front line appliances.

8 – Has your brigade got access to any other foam, I.e bulk storage, if so how much is in bulk storage?

Reply

Up to 3,000 litres in 1000 litre IBC. 560 litres stored in barrels. 6000 litres carried in demountable foam distribution pods.

9 – Does your brigade have any plans to purchase any other type of foam in the future, if so what type of foam would this be and how much per litre would this be?
