RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested on 3rd August 2018
Please find below a summary of our findings.
Request
Any and all fires recorded by the fire service as taking place on grassland, woodland or crops during the periods:
May 1 – July 31 2014
May 1 – July 31 2015
May 1 – July 31 2016
May 1 – July 31 2017
May 1 – July 31 2018
For each incident please also provide:
The main cause of the fire, the ignition source, the main action by the fire service, any damage to property, any injury to persons.
Please provide the information in the form of a .xls spreadsheet file.

Please note:
- For Outdoor secondary incidents we don’t record the cause, only the motive and we don’t record the fire/ damage or injuries
- The list of data is a mix between FDR and SEC incidents therefore there is more data for the FDR incidents as more information is captured.
- Data around damage to property I have include FDR incidents, this includes secondary fire spreading to a property, natural occurrence, intentional burning, and heat source and combustion. These are included because we don’t specify whether the initial fire took place at grassland, woodland or crops before spreading to a property.
- The main action of the fire service when attending a fire would be to the tackle the fire.
