A request for information about incidents involving electronic cigarettes
RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested on 15th April 2016
Please find below a summary of our findings.
How many incidents or fires have you been called out to in relation to electronic -cigarettes?
These would include fires caused by the e-cigs themselves or their chargers.
Within the cost limit, could you provide some detail of the incidents you were called out to?
Can you please provide me with the information for the following calendar years, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 to date?
Please see attached. FOI16052 e-cigarettes
Please note e-cigarette chargers have only recently been added as a separate ‘source of ignition’, and used to be included in one of the ‘Other’ categories.
This means that searching for those incidents involved looking for keywords in the incident logs, and therefore despite taking all necessary care it is possible that some incidents were not found by this search.
