I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested on 10th August 2016.

Please find below a summary of our findings.

1* Please disclose the salary of the Chief Fire Officer;

2* Please provide a breakdown of all benefits, fees, allowances, bonuses, relocation payments and private medical insurance payments for the Chief Fire Officer in the last financial year. In providing the breakdown please disclose the type of benefit, allowance etc. and the cost;

For the financial year 2015/16 Chief Fire Officers claimed £2.3k in expenses which is made up of:

£1.2k Essential Car User Allowance,

£0.1k Blue Light Insurance.

£1.0k Business miles.

Please note:

Generally, essential users are those whose duties are of such a nature that it is essential for them to have a car available when required. The essential user allowance is an annual lump sum paid over twelve months, in additional they can claim actual mileage incurred whilst carrying out their work related duties. In essence this means that the person receiving the allowance needs to ensure their vehicle is fit for purpose (maintained), be insured (including for business use) and have an appropriate MOT (if required).

Chief Fire Officer of West Midlands Fire Service does not have a company car.

For the financial year 1st April 15 to 31st March 16 (which crosses over 2 leave years) the Chief Fire Officer took 5 days

Uniformed personnel leave starts from 1st January to 31 December

Chief Fire Officer leave entitlement per year is 32 duty days
