The number of employees from EU27 nations (excluding the UK) who have ceased employment with West Midlands Fire Service since 2016 is exempt under section 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 as we do not hold this information. We do not keep a record of the individuals who are non UK citizens only of those who ceased employment. The numbers of all those who have left West Midlands Fire Service since 2016 is below

How many West Midlands Fire Service employees have been retired early to pension due to ill health?

The number of West Midlands Fire Service uniformed employees currently in receipt of Ill Health Pensions is 738.

Since 2013 the number of support staff who have retired on ill health grounds is 5. We do not hold information before prior to 2013

How many of these have had their pension entitlement reassessed.

The process for reassessing pension entitlement for uniformed employees was introduced in 2015 and was not to be applied retrospectively. Reviews are carried out after 3 years of ill health retirement being granted.

Since 2018 we have had one ill-health retirement which has been reviewed.

How much does it cost for an ill health reassessment from the brigade medical advisor? If there is not one fixed price, then what is the average cost per case?

How much does it cost for an IQMP to reassess each individual? If there is not one fixed price, then what is the average cost per case?

Reply

The costs of an ill health medical appointment by the brigade physician obviously varies from case to case, how complex the issues are and how many times they are seen in OH.

As a guide the initial appointment of approximately one hour at a cost of £216.00, the reports from GP and Consultants will have their own individual costs of anything from £50.00 upwards.

IQMP costs are on an individual basis dependant on the work required, the current IQMP is £150.00 per hour.

For the previous years this information is exempt under section of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 as we do not hold this information. In line with our data retention policy information regarding our selection process is only kept for 12 months.
