Request.

I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, to request information relating to callouts to farm fires for the past five years, from the beginning of 2015 to date

  • Date of event (ideally full date, but at least month and year)
  • Geographical location, e.g. postal area (as granular as possible without being disclosive of personal data)
  • Cause or suspected cause (if known)
  • Location of fire (ie domestic, agricultural building containing animals, out building not containing animals)
  • Whether farmed animals were involved
  • Types of farmed animal involved (cattle, poultry etc.)
  • Farmed animals killed (Y/N)
  • Number of farmed animals killed (exact number if known – although any quantification available would be useful)

I would appreciate the information as a list of events with the above information by month. If a detailed list is not available, summary information by month would be useful. Please provide as an Excel spreadsheet or compatible format.

Request.

I am writing a working paper and need some data. I want to know about the firefighting organization.
There are 38 fire stations and one West Midlands Fire Service. Does the fire structure has only Fire Service and Fire stations, or is there a separate medium-sized organization in regions?
In the event of a major fire, is a commander dispatched from the Fire Service?
I would be grateful if you could provide any fire organization data.

Reply

West Midlands Fire Service has 38 Fire Stations located strategically located throughout the West Midlands in accordance to risk information provided through our Integrated Risk Management Plan. The 38 fire station are divided into 5 Command Areas that form the West Midlands these are:

  • Birmingham North
  • Birmingham South
  • Black Country North
  • Black Country South
  • Coventry & Solihull

The nature of the incidents we attend vastly varies depending on size and severity so we resource each one dynamically in terms of people, equipment and vehicles ensuring each incident is resolved as safely, effectively and assertively as possible.
