A request for information about details of attacks on Firefighters in 2015.
RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested on 5th October 2016.
Please find below a summary of our findings.
I would like information based on;
How many firefighters were subject to physical and mental abuse in the line of duty in 2015?
How many incidents were recorded and reported by the public and how many reported by firefighters and their peers?
Incidents reported throughout 2015
|Attack type||Reported by||Total||Reported by FFs||Reported by OIC||Other||Comments|
|Verbal Abuse||Fire crews||59||5||51||Unsure of who was OIC at 3 of the incidents as the logs were marked ‘sensitive’||56 verbal abuse attacks were reported at an incident and 3 were whilst crews were driving to/from an incident.|
|Physical Assault||Fire crews||2||0||2||Both of these attacks were reported from incidents|
