RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST

I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested further to your freedom of information request.

Please find below a summary of our findings.

How many “deliberate fire incidents” did firefighters from fire stations under the control of your fire service attend from April to December in 2020 and April to December in 2019

How many times were fire crews from fire stations under the control of your fire service called upon to help with other emergency responses under duty to collaborate legislation from April to December in 2020?

Calls to assist other emergency services (by month), please note: The attached are Special Service Call incidents that had an initial incident type of either ‘assist ambulance’ or ‘assist police’ however we are unable to say whether these specifically fell under duty to collaborate legislation as this is not recorded.

Information for “deliberate fire incidents” for 2019 is exempt under section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 as this information is reasonably accessible to the requestor. Request

On how many occasions did firefighters from fire stations under the control of your fire service:

  • assist in taking samples for COVID-19 antigen testing,
  • drive ambulance transport not on blue-lights (excluding known COVID-19 patients) to outpatient appointments or to receive urgent care,
  • provide driving Instruction by FRS driver trainers to deliver training for non-Service personnel to drive ambulances (not on blue-lights), from April to December in 2020

West Midlands Fire Service firefighters/staff were not required to undertake any of the above specified activities, from April to December in 2020.
