RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST

I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested.

Please find below a summary of our findings.

Request

Please could you provide me with a copy of any communication your organisation has sent to any local authority with responsibility for highways dated between 1.3.20 and the date of this e-mail.

This communication should be limited to only those that include any reference to the fact that response times are being increased, or are at risk of being increased, because of traffic measures which have been brought in by the highways authority.

If there is any such communication could you please supply me with a full chain of responses which include all letters/emails from your organisation and all letters/emails from the highways authority in response.

Please see attached response from Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. The only communication in this time frame that took place was with Sandwell Council concerning the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order for Smethwick and Oldbury, as the communication was into an online portal, and we do not hold a copy of the wording that we submitted.

However the submitted return through the online portal referenced the potential impact to our vehicles in the event of an incident in the area as we aim to attend all incidents where live or property is at risk in under 5 minutes. This was not a request to challenge the works as West Midlands Fire Service appreciates that many of the schemes reduce accidents, injuries and deaths on out roads which complements out Road Casualty Reduction Team’s work under our Prevention banner. We were highlighting out concerns and await further communication with the necessary partners.

If you have any queries about this Freedom of Information request, please contact us. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.
