RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST

West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information requested on 18th March 2020.

Please find below a summary of our findings.

Request

I am writing to request information about fire fatalities in the period of 2014-2018.
How many fire fatalities in this period involved people who were:
Classified as hoarders?
Homeless People?
Using Emollient Creams?

Reply

The reason for death is not captured within the workbook.  Therefore, this request is based on a search through key words within the Incident Log, therefore some incidents may have been missed if the wording is misspelt or not mentioned.

Between April 2014 and March 2018, there were no fatalities attended by WMFS that involved any homeless people or Emollient Creams.

Over the same period, there were 5 fatalities that were related to hoarding. 1 x November 2015, 1 x July 2016, 1 x February 2017, 1x October 2017 and 1 x May 2018.
