Please also note the following:

  1. ‘White Goods’ fires have been determined using the following source of ignition criteria Cooker (hotplate/grill/oven) / Deep fat fryer / Dishwasher / Dryer / Food warming eqpt / Fridge Freezer / Heaters, Fires / Iron / Kettle (electric) / Microwave / Other cooking eqpt / Other grill / Separate ring or hotplate / Spin dryer / Toaster / Tumble dryer / Vacuum cleaner / Washer dryer / Washing machine
  2.  For each year, the first figure is the total number of residential fires where the power source of the item igniting the fire was ‘electrical’ and the second figure is the number of fires that were caused by factors that can be attributed to ‘electrical distribution’ i.e. Electrical fault / Power source / Solar panel / Wiring (inc cables and plugs).  Please note that the first set of figures are inclusive of the second set.
  3. In line with the above, for each year, the first figure relates to persons rescued from residential fires* where the power source of the item igniting the fire was ‘electrical’ and the second figure is the number of persons rescued from residential fires* where the fire was related to ‘electrical distribution’.  Again the first set of figures includes the second set. *Residential fires have been defined as all Domestic Fires and all other residential buildings (non-dwellings).
