RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information requested on 9th January 2020
Please find below a summary of our findings.
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act to request the following information:
1) The number of fires in your authority which have been reported on refurbishment works, in the last three years leading up to the date of your reply.
Please see attached.
Please note that these incidents are for the period 01/01/2017 to present, and where the Firefighters have indicated within the Workbooks that the properties were ‘under construction’, rather than ‘refurbishment works’.
2)The amount of money your fire authority spent dealing with these fires.
West Midlands Fire Service does not record the cost amount for call outs, so it is therefore exempt under Section 1 of the Freedom of Information 2000 Act. However it is possible to calculate a notional cost for call outs by applying the charging mechanism that is used to calculate special service call charges.
Please see attached for the cost of a Pump Rescue Ladder for a special service calls (SSC).
If you wish to calculate a notional incident cost then this would per approximately one pump rescue ladder for one hour per call out.
If you have any queries about this freedom of information request, please contact us. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.
