RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information requested on 24th June 2019.
Please find below a summary of our findings.
When recruiting fire fighters, what is the passing threshold for the numerical, verbal and mechanical reasoning exam?
Does the threshold vary for different candidates. If so, in what way do they vary (is the threshold universal or higher or lower in some candidates’ cases) and what conditions does one have to fill to be entitled (what is their sex, race and sexuality etc) to the lower thresholds and why?
A minimum standard is applied to all candidates. Different phases of recruitment demonstrate that, dependent upon our requirements at the time, all candidates (regardless of any protected characteristic) have needed to score 7 to progress. Equally, during the most recent phase, all candidates who achieved 6 progressed to the next stage.
