RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 REQUEST
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested on 7th July
Please find below a summary of our findings.
Request
- In the last two and a half calendar years, how many fire officers have been:
- i) Given a written or verbal warning
ii) Suspended from employment
iii) Dismissed from employment
iv) Were subject to other disciplinary proceedings not mentioned above (please state).
Please break down by calendar year for 2014, 2015, and 2016 (Jan-June).
- For each case above, please provide the reason why. For example, repeated absences, failure to follow instructions, etc.
Reply
For the following years we had the following numbers of disciplinary cases
2014 – 20 Cases in total |
2015 – 9 Cases in total |
2016 – 14 cases in total |
For further breakdown please see attached.
Due to the low numbers of disciplinary cases during the period 2014-016, further detail about individual cases is classed as personal data and therefore attracts a Section 40(2) exemption under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Disclosure of the information may cause damage and distress to the individuals involved so would therefore be unfair to disclose it and contravene principle 1 of the Data Protection Act 1998.
