I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now completed its search for the information you requested on 20th January 2015

Please find below a summary of our findings.

I was looking for details on kitchen canopy and extraction fires, pubs, restaurants etc in Birmingham during 2015 in the West Midlands

Reply

West Midlands Fire Service attended 9 fires within the West Midlands metropolitan borough in 2015 which started in the kitchen and where the source of ignition was ‘extractor fan’ (‘Canopy’ is not an option in our recording system)

One of these was in a commercial property in Birmingham. There is no further recorded detail as to the property type.

Of the 8 dwelling fires, 3 were in Birmingham, 2 in Dudley, 2 in Solihull and 1 in Coventry

NB  Data from April 2015 is not fully verified until the end of the following financial year (Mar 16)
