Fire engine collision

By October 1, 2016News

Five of our firefighters suffered minor injuries when their engine left the road in Stourbridge.

It happened at 3.50am this morning (Saturday 1 October) when the crew from Haden Cross community fire station were responding to a road traffic collision.

The fire engine was in collision with a wall on Stourbridge Ring Road at the junction with High Street, Audnam. No other vehicles or people were involved.

Group Commander Neil Griffiths said: “The five firefighters were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. There were some minor injuries but all later left the hospital and returned to their station, before going off duty and returning home. We will be giving the crew and their families all the support we can.”

The vehicle was extensively damaged. However, it has been replaced with another from our fleet meaning that our service to the local community will not be affected.

The ring road was temporarily closed at the junction while we arranged recovery of the fire engine.
